Retained and contingency healthcare search firms unite and open new office

WILMINGTON, NC – September 7, 2017 – Gibson Consultants LLC, a retained search firm serving healthcare payors and digital health companies, announced today that it has merged with its affiliate, Enterprise Recruiters LLC, a contingency recruiting firm also focused on digital health companies. The combined company, which will keep the Gibson Consultants name, has also opened an additional office with four new search consultants in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Both moves were prompted by growing demand for search services among companies serving the healthcare market. In response to increased complexity and uncertainty from political and market forces, healthcare companies are under pressure to design and execute new business models. These require skills and experience often not found within their organizations. As a result, they are forced to recruit talent externally.

“The competition for talent in healthcare has been brisk since 2010, but I can’t remember when it’s been this fierce,” said James T. Gibson, President of Gibson Consultants. “The supply/demand imbalance cuts across functional areas and levels, affecting operations through sales and managers and directors up through the C-suite.

Given the scope of our clients’ talent acquisition demands, we need delivery flexibility beyond the traditional choice of retained vs. contingency. Our clients place special value in a partner agile enough to meet their needs up and down the organization. Besides retained or contingency, this might mean a mixed model, a volume-hiring contract, or a special project done alongside the client’s talent acquisition group. As a result, we feel it no longer makes sense to have two companies, each with a different search model.”

In addition to merging the companies, Gibson Consultants has added an office in North Carolina with four new recruiters, also specializing in healthcare companies.
